Dependent on your qualifications and experience your basic salary could be:-

£43,387 – £45,243 for Service Managers
£36,937 – £38,789 for Team Managers
£34.538 - £36.379 Advanced Practitioner
£30,480 – £33,106 for Senior Social Workers
£25,694 – £27,394 for Social Workers
£20,456 – £22,434 for Support Workers awaiting qualification and /or HCPC registration

You will be paid on the 21st of each month and receive an annual increment until you reach the top of the grade.

We provide a contributory career average pension scheme, with employer contributions currently payable at 13.3% of your monthly salary.

On commencement you will be allocated a parking pass which will enable you to park on site at Atlas House (Corporation Street, St Helens) free of charge.

You will also receive a car user allowance of up to £80.25 per month / £963 per annum, paid monthly with your salary and can claim up to 40.9 pence per mile travelled for business purposes.

You will be provided with your own dedicated workspace within our open plan offices at Atlas House, allowing you easy access to not only colleagues and management within your own team but from a multitude of other Children’s Services Teams.  There are also plenty of quiet spaces for those times when you need to get piece of work finished to move on with your day.

Our offices provide a modern, comfortable working environment and are just a short walk from the Town Centre.

We will offer you a minimum of 25 days annual leave rising up to a possible 30 days leave per year plus Bank Holidays.

We also offer an annual leave purchase scheme, enabling employees to purchase an additional weeks’ leave to allow greater flexibility in respect of their planned time off work.

If you live more than 25 miles away from St Helens Town Hall and choose to relocate to within the Borough boundary as a result of securing a job with the Council, subject to the conditions of the scheme being met, you may apply for the Recruitment Incentive Allowance which provides financial support for temporary housing accommodation or lodging allowance, removal expenses, legal and estate agents expenses.

We recognise that it’s sometimes hard to balance the needs of home and work. Depending upon the priorities of the team and needs of clients being met, we are always willing to discuss working patterns with individuals in order to try to accommodate their individual needs

The scheme is administered by Halfords on behalf of the Council, but you will be able to purchase your bike from Halfords, Bromilow Cycle Care or Thatto Cycles in St.Helens.

Healthcare Cash Plans offer a wide range of cover from single membership to complete family cover.                                                                                                                                                  

The plans work by providing cash benefits to help with the cost of everyday medical, dental and optical treatment in return for regular contributions.

Go active operate four fitness, health and leisure centres across St Helens offering state of the art fitness suites, swimming pools, fitness classes, squash courts, a floodlit “tiger turf” football pitch and a 400m running track.  As a Council employee you pay no joining fees to access these facilities and your monthly membership costs can be paid directly from your salary.

Childcare vouchers are a Government-approved, tax-efficient way of paying for childcare. If you join the scheme, you can exchange up to £243 a month of your gross salary for childcare vouchers.

The part of your gross salary you exchange for childcare vouchers is tax-free and exempt from National Insurance contributions (NI). Because of this, you can make savings of up to £933 a parent, a year.

You can get 10% off your bill in places such as ODs Designer Store, Frankie and Benny’s St Helens or up to 25% off your o2 refresh airtime bill.
